my 2021 skincare routine
not gatekeeping a skincare routine, the fuck. i want ya'll glowing next year.
i love a good skincare routine - always have. i’m also very fortunate to be involved in the beauty and makeup industry that allows me to keep this routine without breaking the bank. people always ask me what my routine is and i tell them what it is because it’s skincare and i want everyone to glow. yes, i get the monthly hormonal pimple on my chin, dry skin around my cheeks, and everything in between, but it’s all about consistency. i’m sharing my skincare routine products and other favorite products that i have used this year and will continue to do so.
i have sensitive skin. my cheeks get red whenever i go outside if it’s cold or hot. i usually get dry during the winter month and get oily (with pimples) when i’m on my period. hormones be crazy.
also, keep in mind that a lot products i use are from youth to the people. i worked with them for a campaign two years ago and loved their products ever since. i am fortunate to receive these products and let them be part of my daily routine.
face wash morning/night:
youth to the people’s kale + green tea spinach vitamins superfood cleanser. bitch, this shit fuckin rockssss. doesn’t smell, no harsh chemicals, perfect thickness…your face just feels “clean”. apply one pump onto skin if no makeup was on face.
shower face wash:
tatcha the deep cleanse. i use a different face wash when i’m taking a shower because a shower for me is luxurious. you turn on a playlist, sing in the shower, clean yourself…just a vibe! this deep cleanse is a vibe! it has this thick honey texture that just feels like the cleanser going down in your pores and removing all the dirt and grease building up. apply dime size amount onto skin if no makeup was on face.
toner:
youth to the people madelic acid + superfood unity exfoliant. shitttt this toner you can use twice a day!! toners ten to be really strong in acid and should only be used at night every few days or so. but this toner you can use everyday. i have no idea what the fuck madelic acid and superfood unity does but i’m vibing with them. this toner definitely smoothed out the texture of my skin after a few weeks of using it. i use it morning and night and this is the first thing i apply after the cleanser.
morning serum:
youth to the people 15% vitamin c + clean caffeine energy serum. this is the holy grail to my skincare routine. this serum is amazing. it got vitamin c, caffeine, and some sort of yerba mate in it to make your face feel *slurp* SNATCHED! a lot of the puffiness goes away once i put this on. two pumps of this right after the toner.
night serum:
stripped beauty fountain of youth serum. i don’t know what the fuck is in this but i lather it on and it feels like aloe vera. very smooth and it reduces the inflammation on my skin. apply two pumps at night after toner.
spring/summer/fall lotion:
youth to the people superfood air-whip moisture cream. it’s really light, airy, feels not too heavy on your face. it hydrates and dries really quickly. feels like a cloud on your face. actually, it feels like thickened water. have you tried it? that shit is fucking nasty. thickened water is gross, but this is beautiful and lovely for your skin. i apply this in the warmer months because it’s light and my skin is not too dry. good for oily skin. apply morning and night during the spring/summer/fall months after serum.
winter lotion 1:
youth to the people adaptogen deep moisture cream. my baby, my love. this shit calms your skin after you’ve been exposed to the NYC pollution air. doesn’t have any fragrance to it so you don’t feel like you’re having an allergic reaction to anything. a little thicker than the air-whip cream. good for winter months when skin is not too dry. apply morning and night during winter months after serum.
winter lotion/cream 2 + your skin is fucking you up:
naturopathica gotu kols intense repair balm. yo, my skin gets mad fucking dry in the winter - especially around the nose and lips. i actually use this repair balm for my lips too when it’s chapped. it’s really thick you have to use your fingernail or a small spoon to scoop it out. a dime amount will do its job. if your face is extremely dry — this is it, folks. if you gua sha as well, this is a good base for it as well. apply after serum if skin is too dry.
sunscreen:
skinceuticals daily brightening uv defense sunscreen 30 spf. any sunscreen works. sunscreen needs FDA approval to be made, so any of them works. apply every morning after lotion.
this is my daily skincare routine. i am now going to add makeup removers, pimple patches, and masks i use once in a while that is also part of my routine.
makeup remover:
youth to the people superberry dream cleansing balm. do not use cleansing wipes! the fuck are you doing?!! use this! really thick, hydrating, and will wipe that matte foundation off your face IMMEDIATELY! a dime size amount will do its job. apply after makeup. after this, wash face with cleanser.
pimple patches:
mighty patch the original. i get acne around my chin whenever i’m about to start my period. i’m eating carbs, oily foods, and my face says it all when the pimples start appearing. these patches help remove the pimple without you using your nasty fingernails picking on it. stop picking your pimples!! i apply this after my skincare care routine. i would usually wipe away the pimple area with water and dry it off with a towel so it’s clean. apply to pimple area.
face masks:
lapcos rejuvelanting sheet mask variety set. a little birdie, aka a makeup artist, i worked with told me about these masks and how she’s obsessed with them. i often get scared about masks because i can feel the chemicals tingling my skin, but these masks do none of it. apply toner before applying face masks on!! don’t just put the mask on after you wash your face! toners restore your ph level on your face. apply after toner.
hope you enjoyed this! if you have feedback or questions let me know. what are the skincare products you love? i’m all about trying new things.
Also makeup recommendations next PLSSS
Love to see it. I always see that brand at The Sephora™️ and I’m gonna buy that vitamin c serum omg. Do u use any exfoliators or clay masks? I’m low key obsessed with the innisfree Jeju volcanic pore one since it helps soooi much with those whiteheads.
